Strengthening Cooperation with the Institute of Zoology

On March 28, 2025, a delegation from the National University of Uzbekistan , led by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Mr. Shuhrat Toshmatov, paid an official visit to the Institute of Zoology under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The delegation included representatives from the Faculty of Ecology and other academic departments, aiming to strengthen academic and scientific collaboration.

The visit focused on enhancing the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical experience for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as establishing new avenues of joint research and institutional cooperation.

During discussions with the institute’s director and research staff, both parties exchanged views on expanding partnerships in scientific research. Particular attention was given to collaborative projects in areas such as ecological monitoring, biodiversity conservation, animal migration studies, and the impact of climate change on ecosystems.

The leadership of the Institute of Zoology presented ongoing local and international research projects funded through grants, where  students are actively involved in field studies, laboratory analysis, and the preparation of scientific reports. This practical involvement allows students to gain critical skills and professional experience needed for their future careers in environmental science and biology.
As part of the visit, the university delegation toured the institute’s modern laboratories equipped with advanced research tools and technologies. Delegates had the opportunity to observe student involvement in research related to entomology, ornithology, and hydrobiology. Ongoing projects focused on environmental monitoring and ecological forecasting attracted significant interest. These experiences not only enhance the scientific competency of students but also foster a deeper understanding of responsible natural resource management and sustainable development—skills that are essential in addressing global environmental challenges.

The partnership between the National University of Uzbekistan and the Institute of Zoology holds strategic importance in the context of global climate change. Future cooperation will involve expanded regional initiatives aimed at assessing the ecological consequences of climate-related disasters, such as biodiversity loss, altered species migration patterns, and habitat degradation.Such joint efforts are also expected to contribute to national strategies for climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction. Through applied research and policy-relevant studies, both institutions will work to support government agencies and communities in addressing the social and environmental impacts of climate change—including the displacement of people and the management of water and food security risks.
