Expanding International Cooperation: Partnership Between Walailak University
On April 3, 2024, a delegation from Walailak University of Thailand, led by President Professor Dr. Sombat Tamrongtanyavong, paid an official visit to the National University of Uzbekistan. The distinguished guests were warmly received by Prof. Ravshan Musurmonov, Vice-Rector for Methodological Support and Quality Assurance of Education, and Prof. Raima Shirinova, Vice-Rector for International Relations, along with NUU staff members.
During the meeting, both sides held productive discussions on expanding cooperation between the two universities. The agenda included opportunities for faculty exchanges, student academic mobility, and joint research publications. At the conclusion of the meeting, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding, laying the groundwork for a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership.
In line with this new agreement, three third-year students from the Faculty of Economics at NUU are currently studying management at Walailak University. This initiative, launched with the support of NUU’s Department of Strategic Development and International Rankings, provides students with valuable academic and cultural exchange opportunities.
Over the course of a four-month mobility program, NUU students are expanding their academic knowledge while also gaining deeper insights into the economic and cultural environment of Southeast Asia. Beyond classroom learning, they are immersing themselves in Thailand’s vibrant culture by visiting historical landmarks, enjoying local cuisine, and participating in traditional festivals.
This cooperation marks the beginning of a promising partnership between NUU and Walailak University. By combining academic exchange with cultural immersion, both institutions are working to equip students with global competencies, strengthen research collaboration, and contribute to the broader mission of internationalizing higher education.
The MoU signing and the first wave of student mobility demonstrate how strategic cooperation can open new horizons for young scholars while fostering mutual understanding between Uzbekistan and Thailand.
