Sustainable Land Management
for Agriculture
In alignment with Uzbekistan’s national goals for sustainable development, the National University of Uzbekistan (NUUz) has launched a range of initiatives focused on addressing land degradation, improving soil health, and fostering resilience in agricultural systems.
Through educational programs, community engagement, and hands-on training, NUUz equips students, local farmers, and stakeholders with the practical skills and scientific knowledge needed to manage agricultural land sustainably.
Soil improvement and fertility restoration
Desertification and salinization control
Sustainable farming practices in arid regions, including the Aral Sea basin
Sustainable crop management and agroecology
Soil health and fertility preservation
Water-efficient irrigation and conservation methods
NUUz has
network of training bases
These bases serve as living laboratories for:
Practical demonstrations of sustainable land management techniques
Farmer training and community-based technology transfer
Collaboration between researchers, students, and agricultural workers
Farmers regularly participate in field demonstrations and expert exchanges, observing how modern scientific practices can be applied directly to improve yields and soil health on their own farms.
