Food Security Program

at the national University of Uzbekistan

runs an important academic initiative focused on food security, embedded in the Bachelor’s curriculum for the 2025–2026 academic year within the Ecology and Environmental Protection program. The course “Oziq-ovqat xavfsizligi” (Food Security) aims to prepare future specialists capable of addressing complex challenges related to food safety, nutrition quality, production systems, and sustainable food systems.

The main goals of the course are to provide students with:

a deep understanding of food safety principles and global food security frameworks,s

theoretical and practical skills to assess food risks,

knowledge of international standards such as HACCP and Codex Alimentarius,

The curriculum covers pressing global and national topics such as food security indices, food markets and innovation, nutritional well-being, social protection systems, and the legal environment for food security policy. Students learn modern strategies for identifying and controlling biological, chemical, and physical hazards throughout food supply chains.
