at the national University of Uzbekistan
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and resource management, the NUUz has installed rainwater harvesting systems across selected university facilities.
Sustainable Water Management Practice
The newly installed systems are designed to collect and store rainwater is directed into high-capacity tanks, where it is safely accumulated for later use. Proactive mesh filters have been installed at the inlet points to prevent leaves and debris from entering the tanks, ensuring cleaner water collection and system durability
This initiative helps reduce surface runoff, minimizes water waste and supports the efficient use of natural resources on campus.
Harvested water
intended for:
Cleaning and maintenance purposes
Irrigation of green areas
Technical and auxiliary needs of campus facilities
By reducing dependance on treated municipal water, the university contributes to water conservation, lowers operational demand on public water infrastructure and promotes cilimate-resilients campus management particularly during of water scarcity.
This initiative aligns
with:
Sustainable Development Goal ( SDG) 6 – Clean water and Sanitation
SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
SDG 13 – Climate Action
