Volunteer Project Promoting Energy-Efficient Lighting

As part of its ongoing sustainability initiatives, the National University of Uzbekistan organized a volunteer project aimed at promoting energy-efficient lighting within the campus and surrounding community.

Since a number of local residents live near and within the university campus area, students and staff decided to engage the neighborhood in a community awareness campaign on energy-saving practices. During the project, volunteers conducted on-site visits to explain how energy-efficient LED bulbs can significantly reduce electricity consumption and household costs while contributing to environmental protection.

The university campus itself already uses LED-based smart lighting systems, which served as a real-life demonstration of the benefits of modern, eco-friendly technologies. Volunteers encouraged residents to join the “Bright and Green Home Challenge”, a friendly initiative calling on families to replace traditional bulbs in their homes with energy-efficient alternatives.

Informational leaflets and practical guidance materials were distributed to participants, and several households pledged to take part in the challenge.

This project not only strengthened the bond between the university and the local community but also helped raise public awareness about sustainable energy use and environmental responsibility. The initiative reflects the National University of Uzbekistan’s broader commitment to green development, energy efficiency, and community engagement under the “Green Space” national program.
