NUUz–Pisa Partnership Advances Earth Science Education
NUUz Strengthens Academic Exchange Through Partnership with the University of Pisa
The National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek (NUUz) continues to expand its international academic partnerships to enhance scientific education and global collaboration in the field of earth sciences.
Within the framework of the International Cooperation Program, two distinguished scholars from the University of Pisa (Italy) — Dr. Pier Paolo Giacomoni, lecturer from the Department of Petrography and Petrology, and Dr. Silvia Fornasaro, lecturer from the Department of Geochemistry, Faculty of Earth Sciences — visited the Faculty of Geology and Engineering Geology, Department of Geochemistry and Mineralogy at NUUz.
Recognition of Contribution
In appreciation of their significant academic contribution, certificates of gratitude were presented to Dr. Giacomoni and Dr. Fornasaro by the university administration.
Their lectures not only enriched the faculty’s educational programs but also strengthened the foundation for future collaboration in joint research projects, academic mobility, and scientific innovation.
Knowledge Exchange and Practical Learning
During their visit, the Italian scientists conducted a series of master classes on Petrography and Geochemistry, providing NUUz students with a unique opportunity to gain insights into modern methods of rock and mineral analysis, geochemical processes, and international research practices.
The interactive sessions emphasized the importance of scientific observation, analytical precision, and environmental responsibility in the study of geological materials. Students were able to strengthen their theoretical understanding and acquire valuable practical experience directly from international experts.
Following the master classes, the guests were given a tour of the Geology Museum named after Academician T.N. Dolimov, where they became acquainted with Uzbekistan’s rich geological history and mineral resources. The visit provided a platform for cultural and academic exchange, highlighting NUUz’s dedication to promoting global scientific understanding through cooperation and dialogue.
