SPORT ACTIVITIES

The National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek is committed to promoting a healthy and active student lifestyle through a wide range of sports and physical education programs. The university offers modern sports facilities, including indoor and outdoor arenas for football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, table tennis, martial arts, and fitness training.

Regular sports tournaments, interfaculty competitions, and university-wide athletic festivals foster a spirit of teamwork, discipline, and leadership among students. Talented athletes are encouraged to join university teams that represent NUUz in national and international championships.

By integrating sports into campus life, NUUz not only supports students’ physical well-being but also helps build essential soft skills such as resilience, time management, and strategic thinking-contributing to their overall academic and career success.

As a result of the university’s strong commitment to sports development, the National University of Uzbekistan proudly became the first in the country to produce a two-time Olympic champion, Ulugbek Rashidov, and its first female Olympic medalist, Svetlana Osipova, in Taekwondo. In addition, numerous students and alumni have earned titles as champions of Asia and the world across a wide range of sports disciplines, highlighting NUUz’s role as a leading center for athletic excellence in Uzbekistan.
