Ulugbek Rashitov is the first Uzbek taekwondo player to win a two-time Olympic championship.

Another glorious page has been opened in the history of Uzbek sports. Ulugbek Rashitov, a student of the Faculty of Taekwondo and Sports Activities of the National University of Uzbekistan, went down in history as the first Uzbek taekwondo athlete to win the Olympic Games twice.

Our athlete, who participated in the -68 kg weight category, defeated Jordanian Zaid Karim 2:0 in the final match and became the owner of the gold medal. This victory was a proud event not only for our country, but also for the entire taekwondo of Uzbekistan. The most joyful thing is that the flag of Uzbekistan fluttered in the Paris arenas and the anthem of our Motherland sounded in honor of Rashitov.

As you know, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-3390 dated November 16, 2017, the Faculty of Taekwondo and Sports Activities was established within the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek.

This decision was an important step in further developing the sport of taekwondo (WT) in our country, improving the system of training highly qualified athletes and specialists. During this short period, the faculty has carried out extensive work to attract talented young people and create favorable conditions for their regular participation in sports.

It is worth noting that today’s achievements of the faculty’s graduates and students are the result of this systematic work, the dedication of coaches, and the constant attention of the university leadership.

The achievements of the athletes-students of the National University of Uzbekistan team prove that the sports potential of our country is at a high level. Ulugbek Rashitov’s victory at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games serves as a real source of motivation for young people.

The scientific-theoretical and practical training environment created by the university’s teaching staff and coaching team is bearing fruit today. The work of the coaches is especially invaluable in helping dedicated athletes like Rashitov achieve high results.
