At the National University of Uzbekistan, a roundtable discussion was organized on October 15 in cooperation with the Women’s Council, the Uzbekistan Oncologists Association, and the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology to mark World Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
The main purpose of the event was to widely promote a healthy lifestyle in society, particularly among women, and to draw attention to the importance of early detection, prevention, and effective treatment of breast cancer.
The roundtable was attended by highly experienced specialists in the field of breast cancer treatment, including Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Abduvoxid Khodjayev, and Candidates of Medical Sciences, Associate Professors Lola Zokirova and Anvar Tuychiyev. The experts delivered detailed lectures on the causes of the disease, risk factors, methods of early diagnosis, and modern treatment approaches.
In their speeches, the lecturers emphasized that breast cancer remains one of the most serious threats to women’s health worldwide today. However, they underlined that with early detection, the chances of successful treatment significantly increase. They also highlighted the importance of preventive measures such as undergoing regular medical check-ups, maintaining a healthy diet, avoiding harmful habits, and increasing physical activity.
The event was actively attended by female university staff, professors, students, and tutors, who were able to ask their questions and receive comprehensive answers from the specialists.
At the conclusion of the roundtable, free medical examinations were organized by mammologists for the participants. During the check-ups, women were provided with practical recommendations on safeguarding their health, seeking timely medical advice, and ensuring early detection of diseases.
This meeting not only contributed to strengthening the health of female students and staff but also served to raise awareness and promote a culture of cancer prevention within society at large.
