SPHERE Project: A Step Towards Sustainable Transport and a Green Future in Uzbekistan
On August 27, 2024, at the Jizzakh branch of the National University of Uzbekistan, an event dedicated to the Erasmus+ SPHERE international project was held on the initiative of Professor S. Usmanov with the participation of specialists from ADM Jizzakh and BYD Uzbekistan Factory. During the event, professors and lecturers provided detailed information about the project’s goals and objectives and answered participants’ questions. In addition, a special survey was conducted for representatives of the transport sector.
The main purpose of the meeting was to strengthen practical cooperation between the university and industrial enterprises, improve the training process in the field of sustainable transport in line with modern requirements, and raise public awareness about the opportunities offered by the SPHERE project. Participants discussed the integration of green technologies, energy efficiency, safety, and digital solutions into educational programs within the transport sector.
For reference, SPHERE (29.02.2024 – 27.02.2027) is an interregional initiative aimed at steering higher education in Uzbekistan towards sustainable transport as a step towards a greener future. The project has a total budget of €799,075, of which €414,877 is allocated to Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the project, the following outcomes are planned to be achieved:
- Development and implementation of 6 bachelor’s and master’s programs aligned with European standards;
- Establishment of 6 modern laboratories for practical training;
- Training of more than 180 specialists in the field of transport;
- Support for the accreditation of 5 study programs (4 bachelor’s and 1 master’s).
