Fireworks Safety and Emergency Preparedness: A Preventive Event for Youth
A preventive event under the slogan “Fireworks – a Threat to Life and the Environment” was organized by the Youth Union Primary Organization of the Jizzakh branch of the National University of Uzbekistan in collaboration with members of the “Qalqon” public group.
The event aimed to raise awareness among young people about the dangers that fireworks and pyrotechnic devices pose not only to personal safety but also to the environment. Participants received detailed guidance on avoiding the use of pyrotechnics, refraining from carrying sharp-edged tools in public areas, and strictly adhering to rules of conduct and ethics. In addition to safety concerns, students were educated about the negative environmental impact of fireworks, including air and soil pollution caused by chemical residues, harm to local wildlife, and the significant contribution to noise pollution which disrupts ecosystems and affects human health.
The main goal of the event was to promote a safe and environmentally conscious lifestyle, while also enhancing preparedness for potential emergencies such as fires, explosions, and other hazardous situations linked to improper use of fireworks.
Moreover, the event encouraged young people to develop a strong sense of social responsibility and to strengthen their skills in hazard prevention, early emergency detection, and prompt response. By fostering this knowledge, the initiative contributes to the overall safety and resilience of the community, helping to mitigate the adverse effects of emergencies and supporting preparedness for climate-related risks and disasters.
Through interactive discussions and practical demonstrations, participants were inspired to adopt a more mindful and sustainable approach to celebrations and public events, understanding that protecting the environment is integral to safeguarding human life.
Thus, the event played a crucial role in nurturing a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and emergency readiness among youth. It motivated them not only to comply with safety regulations but also to actively participate in building a resilient community that values both human well-being and the natural world.
