The “Foreign Language Expert” contest, traditionally held at the Faculty of Foreign Philology, was organized

On April 1 of this year, the traditional “Chet tillari bilimdoni” (Foreign Language Expert) competition was organized at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan, initiated by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. The competition was held with the aim of increasing interest in foreign languages among university students and young people, developing foreign language skills, and fostering healthy competition among youth. Additionally, the event served to enhance motivation for in-depth language learning and further activate the language learning process among university students.

The competition assessed the English language proficiency of first- and second-year students. Additionally, young people from local communities affiliated with the university, who were eager to learn foreign languages, also took part. During the event, participants’ English skills were evaluated by a panel of judges through rapid-fire question-and-answer rounds and tests of their ability to use the language quickly and accurately. Each participant’s speaking ability and their capacity to analyze information presented in a foreign language were put to the test. This provided participants with the opportunity to fully showcase their knowledge and skills.

At the conclusion of the event, the winners and active participants were awarded certificates of honor and valuable prizes by the university administration. The prizes presented during the event not only served as a form of recognition but also helped inspire participants to further develop their knowledge and skills, fueling their enthusiasm for continued growth and learning.

Furthermore, with the aim of involving talented young people from other faculties in the competition in the coming years, plans are in place to expand the “Chet tillari bilimdoni” (Foreign Language Expert) competition to a university-wide level. While this year’s competition focused solely on the English language, future editions will also include German and French language categories. This expansion is expected to further enhance interest in foreign languages within the university.
