Empowering Student Mental Health: Insights from Psychological Training Session at National University of Uzbekistan
In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of mental health in academic settings. With the pressures of coursework, exams, and personal challenges, students often find themselves struggling to cope with stress and anxiety. Recognizing this need, the National University of Uzbekistan has taken proactive steps to support student mental health through initiatives such as psychological training sessions led by Head Psychologist Akhtamova Nilufar.
In a recent session held on campus, students gathered to participate in a series of interactive workshops designed to equip them with practical tools and strategies for managing their mental well-being. Led by Akhtamova Nilufar, a seasoned expert in the field of psychology, the sessions covered a range of topics including stress management, relaxation techniques, and building resilience.
One of the key objectives of the training session was to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, general promotion of common decency, justice, equality and reduce the stigma surrounding seeking help for psychological issues. Through engaging presentations and open discussions, students were encouraged to share their own experiences and concerns in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
“Awareness is the first step towards healing,” remarked Akhtamova Nilufar. “By creating a space where students feel safe to talk about their mental health, we can break down barriers and foster a culture of openness and acceptance.”
Throughout the training session, participants learned practical strategies for managing stress and anxiety in their daily lives. From mindfulness exercises to breathing techniques, students were introduced to simple yet effective tools that they could incorporate into their routines to promote emotional well-being.
One of the other learning objectives, by providing students with a broad understanding of the concepts of morality, national values and modesty, they have greatly contributed to broadening their views on these concepts. At this training, students mastered many skills and received answers to their questions.
“The techniques we learned today are invaluable,” shared one student. “I feel more equipped to handle the challenges of university life knowing that I have these tools at my disposal.”
In addition to teaching coping skills, the training session also emphasized the importance of self-care and setting boundaries. Students were reminded of the importance of prioritizing their own well-being and seeking help when needed.
As the session drew to a close, there was a palpable sense of empowerment and hope among the participants. Armed with new knowledge and skills, they left feeling more confident and resilient in the face of life’s challenges.
Reflecting on the success of the training session, Akhtamova Nilufar expressed optimism about the future of student mental health at the National University of Uzbekistan.
“Our goal is to create a campus environment where students feel supported and empowered to prioritize their mental health,” she explained. “Through initiatives like these training sessions, we hope to foster a culture of resilience and well-being that extends far beyond the classroom.”
Indeed, as universities around the world increasingly recognize the importance of mental health, initiatives like the psychological training session at the National University of Uzbekistan serve as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a brighter and more supportive future for students everywhere.
