GREEN ENVIRONMENT AND STUDENT WELL-BEING: INITIATIVES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN UZBEKISTAN

The National University of Uzbekistan is becoming not only a center of education and science, but also an advanced higher education institution that implements environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and renewable energy technologies. Today, the university is carrying out large-scale work to introduce energy-saving systems, expand the green environment, and use renewable energy sources.

Important projects have been launched in this regard at the initiative of the university’s rector, Inom Madjidov. In particular, modern solar panels are being installed in student dormitories, faculty buildings, and scientific centers to increase energy efficiency. Also, heating and water supply systems are being upgraded based on energy-saving technologies. Through this, the university is not only using electricity efficiently, but also reducing the ecological footprint of its infrastructure.

According to Rector Inom Madjidov, a modern university, along with education and scientific research, should be a leader in implementing the principles of a green economy. For this purpose, the university has developed and is gradually implementing the “Green Campus” concept. Within the framework of this concept, pilot projects have been launched on the use of wind and biogas sources in addition to solar energy.

Innovative energy solutions developed by university scientists and students serve not only to modernize internal infrastructure, but also to promote the ideas of sustainable development at the republican level. For example, solar-powered lighting systems, smart sensors that automatically control energy consumption, waste recycling and water-saving systems are being installed.

In addition, the university, in collaboration with the mahalla, is implementing the “Youth and Green Energy” project to expand environmental initiatives, save energy, and use renewable resources. Through this initiative, training seminars are organized for students, teachers, and mahalla activists, with special attention paid to improving their environmental literacy and developing practical skills.

As a result of these programs, the National University of Uzbekistan is establishing itself as a “green university.” The work being carried out on energy efficiency and renewable energy not only increases economic efficiency, but also serves to achieve the goals of environmental protection, reducing the carbon footprint, and sustainable development.

In the future, the university plans to create an energy monitoring system, provide all buildings with solar and wind energy, and introduce environmental innovations on a large scale. This will make the National University of Uzbekistan an environmentally sustainable and innovative higher education institution not only in the republic, but also in all of Central Asia.

The university is today one of the leading institutions that implements the ideas of green energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable development, combining science, education, and ecology. This approach is emerging as the most effective practical model for leading Uzbekistan towards a “green economy.”
