A World Without Waste and the Protection of Birds - Our Shared Responsibility for the Future

On March 30 of this year, at the Jizzakh branch of the National University of Uzbekistan, the faculty members and students of the “Biotechnology” Department of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics organized a large-scale event dedicated to the International Day for a World Without Waste and the International Bird Day, celebrated on April 1.

As part of the event, a plogging campaign was held under the slogan “Uzbekistan’s Youth for a World Without Waste.” This initiative not only promoted a healthy lifestyle among young people but also inspired them to care for the environment, reduce waste, and actively contribute to ecological sustainability.

In addition, during the event, students gained both practical and theoretical knowledge on protecting bird species listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan and preserving their natural habitats. In lectures delivered by professors, valuable insights were shared about the country’s rich ornithofauna, which includes more than 470 species of birds belonging to 22 orders, of which 51 species are listed in the Red Book.

The significance of the event lies in the fact that it instilled in students a sense of responsibility for protecting nature and not remaining indifferent to environmental challenges. For the youth, it became not only a source of theoretical knowledge but also an opportunity to strengthen their environmental awareness through practical action.
