The Central Bank is introducing a special scholarship program for students of the National University of Uzbekistan
On September 12, 2024, the Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan, Inom Madjidov, met with Ulugbek Nosirov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, exploring new opportunities, and promoting the broad integration of sustainable development principles into higher education.
During the discussion, the parties thoroughly examined ways to strengthen cooperation between the university and the Central Bank. In particular, key priorities highlighted included organizing regular interactive dialogues between students, young graduates, and bank representatives; launching structured internship programs to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical experience; and promoting innovative expertise in green finance, economic mechanisms aimed at ensuring environmental security, and strategies for adapting to climate change.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on opening new promising academic programs at the National University of Uzbekistan based on labor market needs, as well as introducing innovative mechanisms to prepare students as specialists equipped with modern financial knowledge and skills in environmental sustainability.
The parties also agreed to launch a special scholarship competition of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan for undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, the Central Bank announced the allocation of a dedicated grant fund aimed at advancing research and educational projects in the field of green economics. This grant will support the development of innovative curricula, joint scientific initiatives, and practical solutions to promote sustainable finance, environmental security, and climate-resilient economic growth. This initiative was highlighted as an important incentive to support talented and knowledgeable youth, encouraging their active involvement not only in the field of finance and banking, but also in scientific and practical projects related to the “green economy” and climate-friendly initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to implement the agreed tasks step by step and to build cooperation on the basis of comprehensive and long-term projects, particularly in areas contributing to climate change mitigation and sustainable economic growth.
