It is known that every year on November 13, thanks to the initiative of the World Health Organization, the world celebrates the International Day of the Blind. The main purpose of this day is to highlight the obstacles faced by blind people in their life and to inform the public about them. Based on this, professors and teachers of the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek and students of the 1st year studying Social Work held an event dedicated to this day. The event was called “Night Walks”.
At this event, the students were briefed about the characteristics of the International Day of the Blind, the life of the blind, and various practical activities or games were organized for the students to understand the life of the blind in their practice.
Students were blindfolded and given various tasks. For example: Choose the fruit you want. Recognize the voice. Describe a person step by step. Find your friend. Find your mobile phone and more. These tasks were randomly selected and performed by students blindfolded. After each assignment, students share their challenges and experiences.
At the end of the event, it was concluded that people with disabilities are a type of human diversity, and the students had a clear idea that providing them with the necessary conditions will allow them to become full members of society.
