Theater Studio of the National University of Uzbekistan: A Place of Creativity, Spirituality, and Collaboration

The theater studio created for students of the National University of Uzbekistan is an important place aimed at revealing creative potential, increasing interest in art and culture, as well as organizing students’ free time in a meaningful way. The theater studio operates not only on the university premises, but also in student dormitories, offering various events that provide cultural leisure and serve spiritual growth for young people.

The organization and purpose of the theater studio, as well as the procedure and structure of its activities

In order to enrich the spiritual world of young people and increase their love for art, a theater studio has been established at the university. This studio was established within the framework of the first direction of the “Five Important Initiatives” – the development of youth creativity, increasing their interest in theater, music, literature and other areas of art.

Through the theater studio:

creative interest is aroused in students;

skills are formed in various areas of art;

free time is organized meaningfully and systematically.

The theater studio operates regularly throughout the year. At the beginning of each academic year, talented students are selected by faculty and various teams are formed. Each faculty has a separate theater team, which competes with each other in preparing creative performances.

During the classes, students learn:

acting skills and stage speech;

basics of dramaturgy;

teamwork and stage management skills

Events in student residences

In order to organize students’ free time meaningfully, the theater studio is also widely organized in student dormitories. Based on the “7 Meaningful Days” project, various events are organized every day of the week:

Creative performances: comedy, drama and modern stage performances;

Monologue and pantomime evenings: short stage plays written by students;

Humor and QVZ programs: an opportunity to relax through interesting and funny performances;

Theater performances organized in dormitories:

Unveiling the creative potential of students;

Developing free performance skills on stage;

Enriching the spiritual and cultural environment;

Serving to strengthen the spirit of friendship, solidarity and teamwork among students.

Through these events, students not only learn the secrets of theatrical art, but also convey various social, educational and spiritual topics to the general public through the stage. All interested students are involved in theatrical performances. Special preparatory classes are held before each performance or stage performance, and students deepen their acting skills, stage speech and teamwork skills.

Repertoire and events throughout the year

Each academic year, the theater studio prepares performances of various genres. The repertoire includes:

performances from classic works of Uzbek literature;
works on modern social and educational topics;
performances based on creative works written by students;
special performances dedicated to the life and work of our great figures Alisher Navoi and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, which serve to educate young people in the spirit of national values, history and spirituality.

The play "Chimildiq" was staged by the student theater studio "Humo" of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek.

Collaboration with theater groups of the National University of Uzbekistan

The Theater Studio of the National University of Uzbekistan provides students with the opportunity not only to demonstrate their creative abilities, but also to gain experience in a professional theater environment.

University students visit the Mukimi Musical Drama Theater, the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater, the Uzbek State Drama Theater, and other theaters to watch performances staged at a high artistic level. These visits not only increase students’ interest in art, but also serve to deepen their acting skills.

Also, famous actors and actresses from these theaters are regularly invited to the university to conduct master classes.
