Visit of the members of the “Volunteer Club” of NUU to the “Taskin” first children’s  hospice of the Republic

In 2022, the first Taskin children’s hospice was opened on the basis of the “Zangiota-2” specialized hospital. The facility provides free palliative care to terminally ill patients.

Today, on December 2, a visit to the first children’s hospice “Taskin” of the Republic was organized with the participation of the “Volunteers Club” of the Department of “Social Work” of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek.

The children being treated there were given sweets by partners “SAFIA” bakery and pizzas by “SARIQ BOLA PIZZA”. A small entertaining concert program was presented to the children, pictures were taken with the children using the “Art therapy” method. At the end of the visit, the children were presented with various souvenirs.

“Since there are no hospices as a social institution in Uzbekistan, psychological support has never been provided to relatives of seriously ill patients. They are not told the whole truth about the disease. In our society, it is not unusual to raise the topic of death. During the thermal period – the most difficult time for the patient and his relatives – people were sent home, where they faced pain and helplessness, the pain of not being able to help a loved one. Together with the hospice, such families will have confidence and support that will improve their quality of life,” explains Rustam Narbayev.

Most importantly, this day has become one of the most memorable and happy days in the lives of children. And we were able to provide practical help for our students to act as real social workers
