Mental health and reproductive health in a global world: National University of Uzbekistan experience and priorities

The National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek organized a high-level republican scientific and practical conference on the topic “Mental Health in the Global World: Problems and Solutions”. This conference was held in cooperation with the Tashkent branch of the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Scientific and Practical Society of Psychologists of Uzbekistan, and was actively attended by leading scientists, professors, researchers and students of our republic.

The main goal of the conference was to discuss scientific and practical approaches aimed at preserving human mental health in the era of globalization, strengthening psychological stability among young people, and forming a healthy lifestyle in society. During the event, the impact of fiction on the human psyche, the importance of psychological support in the process of professional adaptation of young specialists, as well as the values of Generation Z and their aspects related to mental health were widely analyzed.

In particular, the conference paid special attention to the issue of strengthening students’ health, including reproductive health, in the university environment. Today, reproductive health is of great importance not only from a medical, but also from a psychological, social and spiritual perspective. Maintaining the physical and mental health of university students in the process of learning, preparing them for a healthy family in the future, and forming conscious parenting skills are among the urgent tasks.

Systematic work is being carried out in this regard at the National University of Uzbekistan. In particular, seminars, round tables and trainings aimed at increasing the culture of reproductive health among students are regularly organized. Through these events, young people receive scientifically based information about the essence of reproductive health, its role in human life, the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the negative consequences of harmful habits.

In addition, psychological service centers operating at the university provide students with individual psychological counseling, stabilize their mental state, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote personal development. This, in turn, serves to ensure psychological stability, which is one of the important factors in maintaining reproductive health.

During the conference, experts emphasized the inextricable link between reproductive health and mental health. A healthy psychological environment has a positive effect on the overall health of a person, including the functioning of the reproductive system. Therefore, it is important to use an integrated approach to working with young people in higher education institutions, that is, to combine medical, psychological and pedagogical support.

This scientific and practical conference was an important step towards strengthening the health of young people, especially the development of scientifically based approaches to reproductive health, the widespread promotion of a healthy lifestyle in the university environment, and ensuring the physical and mental well-being of the future generation.
