Eco-Volunteers Club Engages in National Environmental 

DISCUSSION

On December 19, 2025, a public discussion titled “The Level of Environmental Awareness and Attitudes of the Population” was held at the Central Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan Executive Committee Conference Hall. The event was organized in cooperation with the Sustainable Development Center and focused on enhancing public participation in environmental policy and legislation.

The discussion brought together deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Ecological Party faction), representatives from the National University of Uzbekistan Faculty of Biology and Ecology, “Green University,” and the Tashkent State Agrarian University, as well as experts from non-governmental organizations operating in the field of ecology.

Under the guidance of Professor D.Sh. Yodgorova, students of the Department of Ecology from the Faculty of Biology and Ecology took an active part in the discussion. Among them were 20 members of the “ECOFIDOKORLAR” (Eco-Volunteers) Club, who are known for their consistent participation in environmental activities and community projects.During the event, the Eco-Volunteers contributed thoughtful ideas and engaged in debates concerning the formation of ecological awareness, the identification of existing environmental issues, and the importance of civic and legislative institutions in addressing them. Based on scientific and analytical findings, the students also developed practical proposals and recommendations for improving public engagement in ecological initiatives.

  • Strengthening environmental education and public awareness campaigns;

  • Enhancing youth participation in ecological initiatives;

  • Integrating sustainability principles into the education system;

  • Developing regional programs aimed at identifying and solving environmental problems.

Students also proposed organizing seminars, training sessions, environmental campaigns, and social surveys to raise public ecological literacy. They emphasized the need to use mass media and social networks more effectively to promote environmental culture and sustainable practices among citizens.

At the conclusion of the public discussion, all recommendations and proposals were summarized and scheduled to be presented to relevant government and social organizations.
This event provided valuable practical experience for students, enhancing their social activity, analytical thinking, and sense of environmental responsibility.

 

 

The ECOFIDOKORLAR (Eco-Volunteers) Club, operating under the Department of Ecology at the Faculty of Biology and Ecology, meets weekly and involves more than 30 active students. The club organizes interactive sessions, discussions, and debates on contemporary environmental issues, helping students apply academic knowledge to real-world sustainability challenges.

Through their active participation in events such as this public discussion, Eco-Volunteers demonstrate leadership, initiative, and a strong commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

This collaboration between academia, government, and civil society illustrates how higher education institutions can contribute to national and global sustainability goals. The engagement of young scholars in public environmental debates is a promising step toward cultivating an environmentally responsible generation ready to shape a greener future for Uzbekistan.
