NUU Students Begin Studies at the University of Mons, Belgium
Three students from the National University of Uzbekistan have started their studies at the University of Mons (UMons) in Belgium as part of a student mobility program established under the cooperation agreement between the two universities.
This marks a historic milestone for NUU — the first time its students are studying at the University of Mons. Until now, only UMons students had participated in exchange programs to study at NUUz.
Over the past three years, strong academic ties have been built between the two universities, resulting in seven UMons students successfully completing their study programs at NUU.
To enable NUU students to participate in this international mobility program, the Department of Strategic Development and International Rankings of NUU conducted a series of important meetings and negotiations with representatives of the University of Mons over a five-month period. These discussions focused on facilitating academic mobility and ensuring the smooth organization of the students’ studies abroad.
Currently, Marhabo Uktamova, Shukrona Olimova, and Ravshan Sabiridinov, students of the Faculty of Foreign Philology at NUUz, are studying at the Faculty of Translation and Interpretation of UMons for one month.
As the project initiator, Alijon Oripov, Head of the Department of Strategic Development and International Rankings at NUU, also visited the University of Mons. During his visit, he met with Géraldine Berger, Head of the International Relations Department, Sarah Graindorge, Specialist for International Student Mobility, as well as the faculty team of the Department of Translation and Interpretation, including Anne Delizée, Head of the French–Russian Translation Section, and several professors. The meetings also covered discussions on cooperation related to academic reputation indicators in global university rankings.
During the discussions, both sides agreed to further expand the project, increase the number of NUUz students studying at UMons, and invite UMons professors and researchers to teach and collaborate at NUUz. These efforts will not only strengthen academic exchange but also contribute to enhancing NUU’s international visibility and ranking performance.
