New energy-efficient student residence opened
In the higher education system of the Republic of Uzbekistan, large-scale work is being carried out to create comfortable living conditions for students, develop modern infrastructure and build energy-efficient buildings. Reforms in this area, along with improving the quality of education, serve to implement the principles of the country’s “green economy”.
On the eve of the new academic year, in connection with the 34th anniversary of independence, student dormitories with a total of 9,980 places were put into operation in 18 higher educational institutions across the republic. One of them is a 12-story, 1,000-place modern dormitory complex built at the National University of Uzbekistan.
This dormitory was built on the basis of a public-private partnership, and its design widely uses highly energy-efficient technologies. The building has heat-saving facade systems, energy-saving LED lighting, and “smart” systems that automatically control water and electricity consumption.
In addition, the building’s internal ventilation and heating systems are also organized on the basis of energy-saving principles, which significantly reduces energy consumption throughout the year.
The construction of the new dormitory is fully consistent with the goals of the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy, which is being implemented at the initiative of the head of the country. Within the framework of this strategy, strengthening the material and technical base of higher educational institutions, rational use of resources and the creation of an energy-sustainable infrastructure are identified as priority areas.
In this regard, the new residential complex at the National University of Uzbekistan is recognized as a model project for the construction of buildings that not only provide comfortable living conditions, but are also environmentally friendly and economically efficient.
The new dormitory is designed taking into account all the needs of students. Each floor has classrooms, recreation areas, a library, a laundry room, a kitchen and a gym. The building is also equipped with automatic lighting and temperature control systems, which creates not only comfort, but also energy savings.
The residence hall is equipped with security systems, video surveillance and fire alarm systems. This ensures a safe, comfortable and modern living environment for students.
The university management has set a plan in the coming years to upgrade the existing dormitories and academic buildings to a high energy efficiency level, and to introduce solar panels and renewable energy sources in the buildings.
As a result, the university is expected to become not only an energy-efficient institution, but also a leading university that has implemented the “green campus” concept.
