India–Uzbekistan joint scientific project

A productive visit took place at the National University of Uzbekistan within the framework of the India–Uzbekistan joint scientific research project, funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Republic of India, titled “Assessment of the Impact of Climate Change and Human Activity on Water Resources: A Case Study of the Tapi River in India and the Chirchiq River in Uzbekistan.”
During this visit, Professor Renji Remesen from IIT Kharagpur, India, participated, while on the Uzbek side, the visit was hosted by Professor Komiljon Rahmatov and Professor Gulomjon Umirzakov.
Key focus areas of the visit:
Short courses were organized for students and young researchers.
PhD dissertation defenses were conducted.
Seminars and workshops were organized in collaboration with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
Experience and ideas were exchanged on water resources management and sustainable development under climate change conditions.
This visit not only strengthened scientific cooperation between India and Uzbekistan but also laid the foundation for developing practical solutions for sustainable water resources management in both countries.
Participants described the visit as “extremely successful and productive,” emphasizing that it marked an important step in collaboration to address global environmental challenges.
