Development of Inclusive Education at the National University of Uzbekistan and the Achievements Attained in This Process

From March 25 to 30 of this year, the World Taekwondo WT Championship for athletes with hearing impairments took place in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The event gathered elite athletes from across the globe, offering a valuable opportunity to display their talents, share experiences, and attain new achievements.

The exciting news is that in this championship, Muhammad Usmonov, a first-year master’s student from the “Taekwondo and Sports Activities” faculty at the National University of Uzbekistan, emerged victorious and was honored with the prestigious title of World Champion. It is important to emphasize that this achievement not only boosts the university’s reputation but also elevates Uzbekistan’s standing on the international stage.

In addition, with this victory, our student secured a place to compete in the 2025 Surdlympics (a competition for athletes with hearing impairments) to be held in Japan. To help him prepare for this event, he will receive valuable guidance from Ulugbek Rashidov, a two-time Olympic Taekwondo WT champion and a distinguished alumnus of the National University of Uzbekistan, as well as Svetlana Osipova, the first-ever Olympic medalist in women’s Taekwondo from Uzbekistan.

Muhammad Usmonov’s participation and preparation for the Surdlympics in Japan is attracting keen interest not only from national sports enthusiasts but also from international athletes. These achievements highlight the increasing emphasis on inclusive education at the university and stand as a clear testament to the ample opportunities being provided to support young people with disabilities, both within the university and at the national level, enabling them to showcase their talents.
