On May 17 of this year, the “Social Work” department of the National University of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the National Agency for Social Protection, the “Social Opinion” Republican Center for Public Opinion Research, and the Uzbekistan Association of People with Disabilities, held a Republican Scientific-Practical Conference on the topic “Human Capital as a Key Factor in the Consistent Development of a Social State.” The conference, traditionally organized by the “Social Work” department, had a scientific-practical nature and was dedicated to analyzing the dynamics of development in the social sector.
During the Republican Scientific-Practical Conference, scientific papers were analyzed in the following areas:
- Panel: The social state as a factor in the development of human capital.
- Panel: Youth as a factor in socio-economic development and human capital.
- Panel: Sociological research on human capital.
- Panel : Changes in human capital in the education system and inclusion.
- Panel: Developing the support system for individuals with disabilities and creating an inclusive environment for them.
- Panel: Improving the professional social services system.
- Panel: Improving the support system for women, ensuring their legal and legitimate rights, enhancing women’s social, economic, and political activity, and promoting gender equality.
- Panel: Cultivating a culture of rejecting child abuse and violence in society.
Within the framework of the conference, presentations were heard on topics related to the social protection system, social services, support for individuals with disabilities, social support for youth and women in difficult situations, as well as areas such as family and gender.
The conference highlighted global achievements in the field of social work, emphasizing the social protection of vulnerable populations as outlined in the UN’s “Sustainable Development Goals,” as well as the fight against poverty and social exclusion. Issues related to health and well-being, quality education, and sustainable development were discussed as areas of particular importance.
Through this conference, international experts, scholars, and industry specialists discussed urgent issues such as developing new innovative models of social work, studying the best practices of developed countries, attracting investments to social work, implementing social models in the country, and establishing inter-agency integrated activities in organizing social work.
The event featured a discussion on the importance of collaborating with state organizations and civil society institutions in social work, developing joint projects to enhance integrative activities, and ensuring the implementation of tasks outlined in normative-legal documents related to social protection and support for vulnerable populations. It was emphasized that working in partnership with relevant organizations is crucial to effectively address these challenges.
Additionally, proposals and conclusions were presented regarding the challenges in developing collaboration and their potential solutions.
The Republican Scientific-Practical Conference saw the participation of representatives from M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, the National Social Protection Agency, the Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Association of People with Disabilities, the Republican Center for Children’s Social Adaptation, the “Social Opinion” Republican Center for Public Opinion Research, and the “Intilish” Republican Information and Education Center, along with around 20 partners. These included professors, practitioners, researchers, doctoral students, scholars, master’s students, and media representatives.
At the end of the conference, participants who were actively involved were awarded certificates.
