Ecological Improvement and Agricultural Development in Kazakhstan

In a significant step toward enhancing ecological practices and fostering agricultural development in Central Asia, Professor Lazizakhon Gafurova and Associate Professor Olimakhon Ergasheva from the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Biology at the National University of Uzbekistan, attended an international lecture in Kazakhstan. The event was dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the Turkestan Region and the opening of the new center of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The theme of the lecture, “Improving the Ecological Situation in the Region by Increasing the Problems of Green Spaces and Agricultural Development,” highlighted pressing ecological challenges and potential solutions for Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Highlights of the Lecture and Field Experiment

The lecture underscored strategies to address regional environmental challenges through initiatives focused on expanding green spaces and enhancing agricultural productivity. Professor Gafurova and Associate Professor Ergasheva, both leading figures in soil science research at the National University of Uzbekistan, joined scientists, students, and officials from various institutions to explore approaches for sustainable land management. The event offered them a platform to share Uzbekistan’s advancements in soil restoration and green space development while learning from the innovative techniques presented by their Kazakh counterparts.

Formal Recognition and Academic Partnerships

During the event, Professor Gafurova and Associate Professor Ergasheva were awarded certificates by the organizers in recognition of their contributions to soil science and ecological sustainability efforts. Their involvement further cements the strong ties between academic institutions in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, where collaboration is seen as a key driver of regional ecological advancement.

Launch of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences Center in Kazakhstan

Marking the five-year anniversary of the Turkestan Region, the opening of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s new center was celebrated with great anticipation. This facility, titled “Sovremennoe Sostoyanie i Perspektivy Uluchsheniya Degradirovannykh Pochv v Uzbekistane” (Current State and Prospects for the Improvement of Degraded Soils in Uzbekistan), aims to support and advance soil restoration and land management efforts. It is expected to serve as a hub for research and field studies that directly address the soil degradation issues affecting Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The center’s establishment is seen as a valuable resource for advancing knowledge in soil science and agricultural sustainability. Through projects facilitated by the center, both nations can address soil degradation issues that have adverse impacts on agriculture, water resources, and ecosystem health.
