"The importance of rivers and lakes in ecosystem stability"

In cooperation with the Faculty of ecology of the National University of Uzbekistan and the faction of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan in the Legislative Chamber of the Supreme Assembly and the Committee on ecology and environmental protection issues, a seminar was held on the theme “importance of rivers and lakes in ecosystem stability” on February 2-“World Water-marsh areas Day”.
The “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy provides for ensuring reliable preservation of biodiversity, in particular, the expansion of protected natural areas by up to 12 percent. In Uzbekistan, the water-marshy areas cover almost one million hectares and there are more than 500 lakes. For many species of birds migrating through the territory of the Republic, water-swamp areas serve as a convenient landing site.
The seminar was noted by deputies that there is a possibility that the water-swampy areas will decrease three times faster than the forest areas. It has been argued that this is a serious problem and that the preservation of such lands is also important for mankind.
Feedback on the protection of rivers and lakes, water-swamp areas was expressed by students and young people, and experts in the field gave detailed answers to their questions.
