International scientific and practical conference on “Goals of sustainable development: foreign experience and practice of Uzbekistan”
Today, on April 26, at the National University of Uzbekistan, in connection with the Law on the implementation of the “Uzbekistan – 2030” strategy and the achievement of its target indicators, and the “Sustainable Development Goals” on the occasion of “April 22 – International Earth Day” “: foreign experience and the practice of Uzbekistan” was held an international conference.
The event was attended by scientists from Turkey, France, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Tajikistan and international organizations, as well as scientists from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent, as well as working abroad.
Initially, Yakub Ergashov, vice-rector for science and innovation of the National University of Uzbekistan, opened the event, and Bori Alikhanov, the chairman of the Committee on Development of the Aral Sea Region and Ecology of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, gave a congratulatory speech. touched on the current environmental problems in the region:
It is extremely necessary to solve the urgent environmental problems facing Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region. The balance of the ecosystem is at risk and urgent measures must be taken to protect our environment for future generations. We are facing many environmental problems in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. One of the most pressing issues is water scarcity caused by climate change, unsustainable agricultural practices, and poor water management. The drying up of the Aral Sea, once one of the largest inland water bodies in the world, is a clear reminder of the consequences of mismanagement and overuse of water resources.

During the conference, congratulations were read to the participants by foreign scientists and a group of devoted teachers of the university. It was emphasized that even though we are representatives of different nationalities and genders, we should respect each other’s common values and contribute to the development of humanity by carrying out scientific research together.
The experience of Uzbek and foreign scientists in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals was analyzed at this event, which was held in connection with the “International Earth Day”, as well as the rational use of land and water resources, the comprehensive application of principles of water-saving technologies, food security, It was envisaged to develop proposals for cooperation on ending the continuation of environmental migration.
During the event, the speeches of local and foreign scientists were heard, and the awarding ceremony of the winners of the “Best Scientific Work” competition of young scientists was held.
Foreign professors and teachers who visited the National University of Uzbekistan to teach in the current academic year also took part in the meeting and expressed their opinions about the university to their colleagues.
