A lesson based on the principles of the SDGs was held at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan
The National University of Uzbekistan, Faculty of Foreign Philology, Department of Foreign Language and Literature, PhD. Muminova Mukhtasar Odiljon kizi held a lecture on the topic “Inclusive education. Specific learning differences”.
Today, in the field of public education, the idea of equality and solidarity in the acquisition of knowledge by students is being promoted. For this reason, an inclusive education system has been introduced in all regional schools. The main goal of the organized lecture was to focus on the diversity of learners in teaching a foreign language, the difficulties they face in mastering the given lessons, and their solutions.
Students learned about types of learners such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders, speech and language disorders, and social-emotional difficulties. They received guidance on how to conduct lessons with these types of learners, select handouts, develop competencies in identifying and understanding learning differences in students and applying appropriate pedagogical approaches, and, as future educators, organize the lesson process tailored to the individual needs of students.
Since the lesson was organized directly with students studying in the 2nd cycle of the master’s degree program, they had lively discussions about the types of students they encounter in their pedagogical work, the positive and negative aspects of inclusive education, and solutions, and shared their experiences.
This training is aimed at SDG Goal 4 “Quality Education”, creating an adapted, safe and inclusive learning environment for children with disabilities, expanding educational opportunities taking into account the individual needs of each learner, SDG Goal 5 “Gender Equality”, reducing the gap in education between boys and girls in public education, providing equal support for learning difficulties experienced by girls and boys, and SDG Goal 10 “Reducing Inequalities”, eliminating social inequalities caused by linguistic, cognitive, physical or neurological differences among learners, ensuring equitable distribution of education for learners with special needs, children with different learning styles and developmental levels.
