NUUz Launches Strategic Actions to Improve Access for Underrepresented Groups in Higher Education

In 2023, the National University of Uzbekistan (NUUz) established a strategic partnership with the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its affiliated Center for Professional Development of Social Protection Employees.

This partnership aims to support equitable access to higher education for students from underrepresented and socially vulnerable groups, including low-income families, persons with disabilities, and those in need of social protection.Developing targeted educational programs in cooperation with the social protection systemLaunching support schemes such as internships, grants, and tailored academic resources. Creating inclusive and internationally benchmarked curricula for social work education.Improving institutional readiness to support underrepresented students

These actions were formally documented in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in 2023 between NUUz and the Center for Professional Development. The MoU outlines key initiatives such as:

1. Joint development of updated qualification standards

2. Practical training for students within the social protection network

3. Collaborative research and educational material development

The collaboration and the signing of the MoU were publicly announced via NUUz’s official website, social media channels, and news outlets, ensuring transparency and public accountability.
