Supporting Sustainable Development Goals

At the University of Exact and Social Sciences, a meeting was held on the topic “State Reforms to Enhance Women’s Socio-Political Activity in Uzbekistan.” The event was devoted to strengthening gender equality and empowering women’s participation in political life, in line with the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality).

The meeting was opened by the Rector’s Adviser on Women’s Issues, Lalikhon Mukhamedjanova, who highlighted the key priorities of state policy aimed at supporting women, increasing their social status, and ensuring equal opportunities in all spheres.

Following this, Dr. Enakhon Zaripbaevna Nishanbayeva, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science, National University of Uzbekistan, delivered a presentation on women’s active involvement in socio-political life, as well as the legal frameworks and practical measures undertaken to achieve gender equality.

During the discussion, participants received answers to their questions. Such meetings play an important role in raising the political awareness and civic engagement of young people, especially women, and in encouraging their active participation in the country’s development.

This initiative reflects SDG 5 — Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, demonstrating Uzbekistan’s commitment to building an inclusive and equitable society.
