Efficient Use of Parking Areas: Over 5,000 kWh of Solar Energy Generated
National University of Uzbekistan has launched an innovative project aimed at promoting sustainability and renewable energy.
The university has found a creative way to use its parking zones more efficiently — by installing solar panels above parking areas. These panels not only provide shade for vehicles but also generate over 5,000 kWh of clean energy annually. The produced electricity is utilized to power campus lighting, administrative buildings, and several academic facilities.
This initiative successfully integrates two key goals:
Supporting the Green Space movement by generating renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions;
Optimizing the use of campus infrastructure for both practical and environmental benefits.
Rector Inomjon Majidov highlighted that the project serves as an example of how modern technologies can contribute to a greener and smarter university. It also provides students and researchers with valuable hands-on experience in sustainable energy management.
The National University of Uzbekistan intends to expand the Green Space solar project to other campus sites in the future, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
