Orientation and Independence Classes Traditionally Held at the National University of Uzbekistan

Every year at the beginning of the new academic year, orientation and independence classes are held at the National University of Uzbekistan. This year, the Faculty of Biology once again hosted these sessions in a spirited atmosphere. The classes, delivered by academician Bakriddin Zaripov, senior researcher of the Zoology Institute’s Entomology Laboratory at the Academy of Sciences Maksedbay Medetov, and faculty dean To‘xtasin Abdrahmonov, were conducted in an open dialogue format with students.

At the same time, the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Systems also organized its traditional orientation sessions for newly admitted first-year students. Under the leadership of dean Shavkat Sharipov, the faculty staff was introduced to the students, who also learned about the university’s history and the faculty’s activities. Furthermore, master classes were conducted with the participation of industry experts and representatives of employer organizations, providing students with practical insights.

During the orientation week, first-year students were additionally introduced to:

* the university’s structure and academic resources;
* student support services, including the dean’s office and mentoring programs;
* opportunities for scientific research, innovative projects, and international exchange programs (Erasmus+, DAAD, and others);
* the library, digital platforms, and distance learning systems;
* student associations, cultural clubs, and sports activities;
* the university’s code of academic integrity, ethics, and internal discipline;
* the Career Center and cooperation opportunities with potential employers.

Through these activities, the National University not only welcomed first-year students but also laid a solid foundation for their successful integration into academic, social, and cultural life.
