ENGAGEMENT WITH MINISTRY OF EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
National University of Uzbekistan (NUU) is deeply committed to enhancing the country’s resilience to emergencies and natural disasters through its active engagement with the Ministry of Emergency Situations. This collaboration is a cornerstone of NUU’s broader mission to contribute to national safety and preparedness, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focused on building resilient communities.
NUU works closely with the Ministry to develop and implement educational programs, research initiatives, and training workshops that equip students, faculty, and the broader community with the skills and knowledge necessary to respond effectively to emergencies. These programs include disaster risk reduction, emergency response training, and the integration of climate resilience strategies into disaster management plans.
Through joint seminars, practical exercises, and simulation activities, NUU and the Ministry of Emergency Situations collaborate to ensure that both theoretical knowledge and practical skills are imparted to those involved. This partnership not only strengthens the university’s academic offerings but also plays a critical role in the national strategy for disaster preparedness and response.
By fostering this close relationship with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, NUU is actively contributing to the creation of a safer, more prepared society, capable of facing the challenges posed by natural disasters and other emergencies.
Letter No. 3/15-03-09-116 of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 12, 2023 and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to increase the effectiveness of fire prevention and improve state control in the field of fire safety” in accordance with the decision No. 332 dated August 4, 2023, in order to ensure the implementation of the task of organizing promotional events, meetings and roundtable discussions on the “Fundamentals of Life Safety” defined in paragraph 11 of the action plan for the implementation of the “Fire Awareness” general campaign A training seminar was held on September 27, 2023 at 12:00.
- Opening of the educational seminar – the head of the Department of Civil and Labor Protection of the University, B. Mavlonov, made a speech and gave insights on the issues on the agenda and introduced the speakers.
- Associate Professor of the Department of Ecological Monitoring of the National University of Uzbekistan v. b. R. Okhunov gave a lecture.
- Shegay Vladislav Anatolyvich, an employee of the training center affiliated to the Tashkent city emergency department, made a report on “Obligations of the heads of civil protection structures of universities and faculties”.
Employees who participated in the training seminar:
Employees of the Department of Civil and Labor Protection of the University, professors and teachers of the Department of Ecological Monitoring of the Faculty of Ecology and all the faculty responsible for fire safety – vice-chancellors, deputy deans and heads of departments, heads of departments, heads of laboratories, laboratory assistants, heads of buildings, tutors, students were present at the training seminar. the heads of the building took part.
The number of personnel involved:
- Faculty tutors are 14 employees
- Deans of faculties are 10 employees
- Heads of buildings of faculties are 8 employees
- Department heads of faculties are 7 employees
- Heads of laboratories of faculties, 10 employees
- Laboratory assistants of the faculties, 21 employees
- Head of student housing and 16 responsible employees
A total of 86 employees participated in this seminar.
At the event, the fire, its causes, fire prevention measures, fire extinguishing methods, procedures and rules for using primary fire extinguishers were explained.
All the participants of the event are given recommendations on their job duties to prevent emergencies, fires, to act correctly in the event of such situations, to carry out promotion and propaganda work on ensuring fire safety in student residences, student rented apartments, and educational buildings.
