Today, on May 2, a scientific seminar was held at the Faculty of Biology and Ecology of the National University of Uzbekistan<\/strong>, organized by the Young Biochemists Club<\/strong> (https:\/\/t.me\/biokimyogarlarklubi<\/a>) and the NUU Public Talks<\/strong> club.<\/p>

The seminar featured a lecture by Professor Andrey Abramov<\/strong>, head of the Laboratory of Clinical and Movement System Pathologies at the Institute of Neurology, University College London (UCL)<\/strong>, on the topic \u201cCellular Mechanisms in the Pathogenesis of Neurodegenerative Diseases.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>

In his presentation, Professor Abramov gave a detailed overview of the cellular-level causes of widespread neurodegenerative diseases<\/strong> such as Alzheimer\u2019s and Parkinson\u2019s<\/strong>, discussing their genetic and biochemical foundations<\/strong> and the latest scientific research<\/strong> being conducted in this field.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\tToday\u2019s scientific approaches identify mitochondrial dysfunction, calcium homeostasis disruption, and pathological accumulation of protein oligomers as key mechanisms of neurodegeneration\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The lecture also provided in-depth information on the experiments conducted at the London Institute of Neurology<\/strong>, including methodologies<\/strong> and findings<\/strong>. Students gained a deeper understanding, especially regarding the model organisms<\/strong> used in the study of these diseases.<\/p>

The seminar addressed important aspects such as genetic mutations<\/strong>, mitochondrial dysfunction<\/strong>, irregular calcium ion regulation<\/strong>, and protein aggregation within cells<\/strong>. It was also noted that these diseases are not limited to developed countries but are becoming increasingly common in Uzbekistan<\/strong>, underlining the need for early diagnosis<\/strong> and intensified research<\/strong> in this area.<\/p>

At the end of the seminar, participants had the opportunity to ask questions of interest. Discussions were especially lively around statistics related to neurodegenerative diseases in aging populations<\/strong>.<\/p>

To conclude the event, Raima Shirinova<\/strong>, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the National University of Uzbekistan, expressed sincere gratitude to Professor Andrey Abramov and presented him with a certificate and commemorative gifts<\/strong>.<\/p>

Master\u2019s students in Biophysics and Biochemistry<\/strong> actively participated in the seminar, enriching their theoretical knowledge with real scientific data. The topic served as a logical extension of their curriculum, helping students gain a comprehensive understanding of the origins and mechanisms of diseases that lead to the death of brain cells<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
